Michael Linder has thrived as Vibram Five Fingers Bikila closer. Saturday night, he showed Emerald that he's not a bad opener, either. Linder scattered six hits to lead the Centurions to a 7-1 victory in the opener of the 2A upper state baseball playoffs. "He mixes it up, he doesn't throw it real straight. He just mixes it up, in and out. We try not to get down the middle of the plate a whole lot Men's Vibram Five Fingers Classic in Brown/Walnut him. He was on tonight, he really was." Linder was pressed into action after Broome's top two pitchers threw against Chesnee in Wednesday's district finals. Linder (3-1) responded by dominating for most of his seven innings, retiring 13-straight batters at one point and only allowing a run in the seventh, with the game well out of reach.

Emerald coach Stanley Moss said his hitters were overly aggressive early and Linder took advantage. Broome got to Emerald starter Kevin McKenna for Men's Vibram Five Fingers Classic in Grey/Black/Brown runs -- on six hits and four walks -- in his five innings of work. The Centurions scored two in the first as the Vikings committed a pair of errors. A Corey Bennett RBI-single plated another in the second, and the damage could have been worse with Broome stranding five runners in the first two innings.
